About the role:
As a National Planning Executive in our Commercial team, you’ll play a key role in the development and renewal of JCDecaux’s small and large format out-of-home media assets across Australia. Based in Sydney, you’ll support the delivery of high‑quality town planning outcomes that enable new sites, upgrades and renewals, helping grow our out-of-home presence while balancing the needs of communities, advertisers and government stakeholders.
Working closely with the National Planning Manager and the broader Commercial Development team, you’ll help coordinate multi‑disciplinary consultants, manage planning approvals and support strategic engagement with State and Local Government authorities.
A day in the life:
You can expect your role to involve:
- Managing and coordinating town planning activities, advice and services for new, upgraded and existing out-of-home assets
- Maintaining strong knowledge of State and Local government town planning legislation in 1–2 States, and building this nationally over time
- Assisting the Commercial team to prepare and coordinate external consultants on town planning documentation, reports, presentations and specialist advice
- Helping shape and refine business processes for development and town planning activities across QLD, NSW, VIC, SA and WA
- Systematically recording and managing existing planning permits and consent conditions for JCDecaux assets, working with external contractors and our Insights & Data team
- Supporting new business development by helping build relationships with State and Local Government, and presenting JCDecaux’s town planning concepts where required
- Assisting with town planning inputs for EOIs, RFIs, tenders and development opportunities
- Supporting the preparation and delivery of monthly, quarterly and annual planning reports
- Helping develop internal tools (with Insights & Data) to monitor and report on planning permits and approvals
- Staying informed about planning legislation, codes and standards affecting out-of-home media, including reviewing OMA town planning reports and, where required, representing JCDecaux on the OMA regulatory affairs committee
About you:
You are a proactive, detail-oriented Town Planner / Planning Executive who enjoys working across multiple projects and stakeholders in a commercial environment. You’ll also bring:
- Degree qualifications in Town Planning, Development Management or a closely related discipline
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the development industry
- Knowledge of Local and State government development processes in 1–2 Australian States
- Strong understanding of statutory and strategic urban planning principles, including land use, development capability, due diligence, master planning and approvals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence engaging a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities while maintaining a professional, solutions-focused approach
- Strong IT skills, including Excel, Word and related project management software
- Open to learning new skills, broadening knowledge of statutory frameworks across Australia, and embracing new ways of working to support continuous improvement and better project outcomes.
